Ahmad Aliyu (APC) was declared winner of the 18 March 2023 Sokoto State governorship election with 453,661 votes, ahead of Saidu Umar (PDP, 404,632). The Court of Appeal affirmed Ahmad Aliyu's victory on 27 Nov 2023 and the Supreme Court affirmed his election on 25 Jan 2024.
