The primary

Declared the consensus presidential candidate of the Wike-backed, Abdulrahman Mohammed-led PDP as its sole aspirant; results were presented at the party secretariat in Abuja on 26 May 2026 by a committee chaired by Samuel Ortom, with INEC officials monitoring.

Disputes and court cases
  • Factional dispute: INEC recognises the PDP leadership led by Abdulrahman Mohammed (backed by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike), which nominated Onor, after a Supreme Court judgment nullified the party's 2025 Ibadan convention. A rival interim leadership led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki ratified former President Goodluck Jonathan as its candidate at a special convention on 30 May 2026 and manually submitted his nomination to INEC. Jonathan is not on INEC's list. In July 2026 the Federal High Court, Abuja struck out a suit seeking INEC recognition of the Turaki leadership, holding it an internal party matter; the faction said it would appeal (outcome not found as of 1 October 2026). Jonathan had not publicly accepted or rejected the nomination in reports up to September 2026.
