Nominated by consensus at the Action Alliance presidential primary in Abuja on 30 May 2026; INEC published him as the AA candidate on 1 August 2026.
Leadership dispute: a faction led by Kenneth Udeze says Court of Appeal decisions affirm Udeze as AA national chairman and backs Joseph Oluwadare Faduri ("Fadojoe") as the party's candidate. INEC lists Omo-Aje as chairman by court order (a September 2025 Federal High Court, Osogbo judgment favoured his faction) and kept him on the final list. Faduri said in September 2026 that he had gone to court to compel INEC to recognise him.
On 15 June 2026 a Federal High Court judge ordered INEC to deregister five parties (ADC, Accord, AA, APP and ZLP); the Court of Appeal declared that judgment null and void on 28 July 2026 and held that the parties remain registered.
