The primary

Won the APC's direct presidential primary held in wards nationwide on 23 May 2026 with 10,999,162 votes to Stanley Osifo's 16,503; declared the candidate in Abuja on 24 May 2026.

Disputes and court cases
  • Pending case: Atiku Abubakar and the ADC have sued at the Federal High Court, Abuja (FHC/ABJ/CS/1888/2026) asking that Tinubu and the APC be removed from the ballot over an allegedly forged NYSC discharge certificate. Tinubu and the APC deny submitting any forged certificate and want the suit dismissed; INEC also objects to it. A hearing on Atiku's application to amend the suit was fixed for 13 October 2026.
