Elected chairman of Yenagoa LGA in the 6 April 2024 local government election conducted by the Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission (BYSIEC) on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); sworn in on 29 April 2024. On 15 October 2025 he resigned from the PDP with other Bayelsa council chairmen to follow Governor Douye Diri, who was moving to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
