Senator for Imo West (2011–2019). Became governor of Imo State on 15 January 2020 after the Supreme Court declared him winner of the 2019 election; re-elected in November 2023 and sworn in for a second term on 15 January 2024. He won the APC ticket for the Imo West Senate seat for 2027.
