A group from Enugu North says ward and council executives elected in March were replaced without explanation.
A group of founding All Progressives Congress (APC) members in Enugu North Senatorial District has asked Governor Peter Mbah to intervene over the alleged removal of some ward and local government party executives, Premium Times reports.
In a statement on Wednesday signed by Barth Ugwoke, the group, known as G-30 Enugu North Senatorial Zone, said ward and LGA officers elected at the party's March congresses had been replaced without being told why.
The group said it had welcomed the governor and other former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members into the APC. As it understood the arrangement, the 18 existing PDP executives at ward and LGA levels would keep their positions, while founding APC members and former Labour Party members would take the remaining nine.
It asked for the removed officials to be restored where there was no valid resignation, disciplinary finding or other constitutional ground, and for any future changes to follow the APC constitution. "An elected party office should not be treated as an appointment," the group said.
