New registrants, voters who moved polling units and those who lost their cards collect in person, not by proxy.
The Independent National Electoral Commission will begin distributing newly printed Permanent Voter Cards at its offices in all 33 local government areas of Oyo State from 9 October, Nigerian Tribune reports, citing the state's Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Adeniran Tella.
Collection runs from 9am to 3pm each day, except at weekends and on public holidays. It is for people who registered in the last Continuous Voter Registration exercise, voters who transferred to a new polling unit, and those whose cards were lost or damaged.
INEC said each card must be collected by the voter in person; no one can collect a card on someone else's behalf. The commission said it had arranged with security agencies to keep the exercise orderly, and that it still holds a large number of cards from the 2023 general election that were never collected in the state.
A PVC is needed to vote in the presidential and National Assembly elections on 16 January 2027 and the governorship and state assembly elections on 6 February 2027.
