On the eve of the anniversary, the Secretary to the State Government praised security forces and pledged continued support to them.
Zamfara State's Secretary to the State Government, Mallam Abubakar Nakwada, has said the state's security challenge "is not yet over", as Zamfara prepared to mark 30 years since its creation, Nigerian Tribune reports.
Briefing journalists on Wednesday at the J.B. Yakubu Secretariat in Gusau, Nakwada said the anniversary on 1 October 2026 was a chance to reflect on three decades of statehood and on what he called the accelerated transformation of the last three years under Governor Dauda Lawal.
He said that for a state that has endured years of banditry, kidnapping and disrupted rural livelihoods, restoring security is fundamental to rebuilding communities. The government, he said, continues to support the armed forces, police, Department of State Services and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps operating in the state.
Nakwada paid tribute to security personnel, some of whom he said had died defending communities, and promised continued support until communities are safer and livelihoods restored.
