State pensioners can verify from home with their NIN and BVN; those who cannot may attend a centre at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka.
The Anambra State Government will begin verifying state pensioners on 5 October, and most will be able to complete the exercise online without travelling to Awka, BusinessDay reports.
The Head of Service, Ngozi Anuli Iwouno, announced the exercise in a letter dated 29 September to the state chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners. She urged pensioners to use only the official verification portal and warned that the exercise is free, so no payment should be made to touts or unauthorised persons.
For online verification, pensioners need their National Identification Number (NIN), staff ID, Bank Verification Number (BVN), the phone number previously given to the Pensions Office and a smartphone with a working camera. The process includes confirming personal, bank and employment details and a facial capture, after which a reference number is issued.
Pensioners who cannot verify online because of age, lack of a smartphone or other reasons can be verified in person at a centre beside the UBA Secretariat Branch, Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka.
