The FCT Executive Council also approved digitising about 67 High Court courtrooms and a N5.703bn power line for Bwari communities.

Work is to resume on Utako General Hospital in Abuja, abandoned for years, after the Federal Capital Territory Administration approved its completion along with upgrades to 14 other general hospitals, Premium Times reports.

The FCT Mandate Secretary for Health and Environmental Services, Adedolapo Fasawe, said after Tuesday's 19th FCT Executive Council meeting, chaired by Minister Nyesom Wike, that the Utako project would include equipping and staffing the hospital. The 14 existing hospitals are to get new equipment, including X-ray machines and diagnostic materials, and upgraded theatres.

The council considered 20 memoranda. Other approvals included digitising the FCT High Court, covering about 67 courtrooms, and two contracts to supply examination materials to public primary and secondary school students.

It also approved a N5.703 billion contract, awarded to CGC Nigeria Limited, for a 33KV power line from Dawaki to Tukulo and nearby villages in Bwari Area Council, to be completed within eight months.
