Bandits kill man, abduct nine in Chikun LGA community

Suspected bandits killed a resident and abducted nine people, including his wife and two children, in Babban Saura community, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, in the early hours of Thursday, Daily Nigerian reports, citing the News Agency of Nigeria.

A community source said the attackers entered three houses. They first took two children of an elderly man, then broke into the home of a man identified as Sikiru, who was shot dead after resisting. A woman and her four children were taken from a neighbouring house.

The local vigilante commander, Usman Adamu, said soldiers joined vigilantes in pursuit and traced the attackers to the Eastern Bypass area, where they rescued the woman, Maman Mubarak. Her four children remained in captivity.

The attack came days after a man was reportedly killed and cows rustled in nearby Kadaure community. Kaduna police spokesperson DSP Mansur Hassan could not be reached for comment.
