Simon Bako Lalong, a lawyer born in 1963, was governor of Plateau State from 2015 to 2023 and briefly Minister of Labour and Employment in 2023 before taking the Plateau South Senate seat in December 2023. He is the APC candidate for Plateau South in 2027.
