Samaila Dahuwa Kaila, a former Bauchi State Commissioner for Health, was elected senator for Bauchi North in 2023 on the PDP platform. He later joined the APC and, in May 2026, left it for the People's Redemption Party, which named him its 2027 candidate for Bauchi North.
